Certification Renewals for Customers
Introduction
The renewal is treated as new application and so you would need to apply for an account via our website. The current assessment question sets are available to download from the links below as either a pdf or an excel spreadsheet.
Please note that these are working documents only and, to be certified, you will need to enter your answers into the online assessment platform.
How do I renew my Cyber Essentials Certification?
Cyber Essentials is a point in time assessment, so please note that next year’s renewal date for your certificate will be the date the assessor finishes marking the assessments and runs the certificate report.
Please take this into account when submitting your answers to avoid renewing too early. You can find the exact date of when your current certification was issued (providing it was within the last 12 months) at Cyber Essentials Certificate Search
Simply start your renewal via one of these links which will take you to the application forms for either:
Cyber Essentials: Cyber Essentials Verified Self-Assessment
IASME Cyber Assurance: IASME Cyber Assurance Verified Self-Assessment
The application form will allow you to pay via card or your PayPal account using the PayPal platform, or, alternatively, to request an invoice be sent to you so you can pay via bank transfer.
Once your application and payment have been received, you will receive your online assessment portal log-in details so that you can complete the assessment. You do not have to do this all in one sitting – you can save your answers and go back at any time.
What is IASME Cyber Assurance?
The IASME Cyber Assurance Standard covers a number of important cyber security areas outside the scope of the Cyber Essentials scheme. It also covers the legal requirements for data protection (GDPR) in the UK and EU. These additional controls provide you with even greater protection for your business information and data whilst simultaneously proving greater reassurance to your clients.
How long will my renewal take?
Once you submit your answers it will usually take 2 – 3 days to get the result back to you. If you have a tight deadline for certification then please let us know and we will do our best to help you meet it.
Cyber Liability Insurance
All qualifying companies (any company certifying their whole organisation, UK domiciled and with an annual turnover of under £20 million) can opt-in for the cyber liability cover included as part of the Cyber Essentials certification.
This cover provides a £25,000 limit of liability and does not incur an additional charge. More details can be found here: Cyber Liability Insurance
Your Evidence of Insurance documents, with details of the cover and how to make a claim, will be sent together with your Cyber Essentials certificate once you have successfully re-certified. The insurance is administered by Sutcliffe & Co Insurance Brokers; any queries about this insurance should be directed to cyberessentials@sutcliffeinsurance.co.uk
