All software including operating systems eventually stops receiving security updates and becomes vulnerable to commodity attacks. Once the software is no longer supported it has reached ‘end of life’. The End of Life information here provides details which will allow you to check whether your system is still receiving these updates, the update policy for each one (i.e. how often it is updated, whether this happens automatically, etc) and when it will fall out of vendor support.

Operating systems must be supported by the vendor which means regular security updates must be provided in order to fix security issues.
Whilst every effort is made to provide the most up-to-date information, you should always check the vendor site for the support status of your particular operating system.Â
